Faculty OER Grant Program

2025-2026 BC3 Faculty OER Grant Program

This is an application for grant funds to integrate OER into a BC3 course. The grant award is $500 per applicant.  Awards will be funded by the BC3 Education Foundation and distributed through BC3 Payroll subject to withholdings.

Applications are due by February 28, 2025, and awards will be announced via email by April 1, 2025.

Grant Requirements:
  • Complete the OER training course in Blackboard by May 30, 2025 (not time-intensive training).
  • Work with BC3 Librarians and Educational Technology staff to discover, select, and adopt OER material for a course.
  • Submit a progress report by August 15, 2025.
  • Teach the OER course at least once during the 2025-2026 academic year (Fall, Spring and/or Summer semesters).
  • Require all students who complete the course to complete the Student OER Perceptions survey.
  • Compete the Faculty OER Outcomes Survey by June 2026.
  • Create a 5-10 minute video tour of the course in Blackboard by June 2026. The video should display OER resources that were selected and provide an explanation of how the selected OERs are being used in the course. The video can be recorded through the recording and screen sharing features in either GoToMeeting or Echo360. For assistance, please contact the Division of Educational Technology (edtech@bc3.edu).

2025-2026 OER Grant Application

Mentor Option

Faculty applying for a grant have the option to have a mentor. Mentors are faculty who have successfully completed a BC3 OER grant and have agreed to serve as mentors.

Mentor duties:

  • Serve as a guide.
  • Provide suggestions and feedback.
  • Provide examples of successful OER implementation.

Some of your questions will be beyond a mentor's duties or expertise. For questions related to Blackboard contact the Division of Educational Technology. For assistance locating OER resources and OER in general, contact Jean Shumway, Reference & Media Services Librarian and OER Liaison.

The following is a list of BC3 faculty who have completed an OER Faculty grant, are teaching an OER course, and are interested in serving as a mentor.

If you would like to have a mentor, it is your responsibility to initiate the mentorship. Your OER mentor will need to complete the Mentor Agreement Form. Copy the following link and email it to your mentor.
